Arab Blockchain Week - Governments & Immersive Web: Opportunities & Challenges
During Arab Blockchain Week, I had the privilege of moderating a thought-provoking panel titled "Governments & Metaverse: Opportunities and Challenges".
This session explored the evolving role of governments in shaping the future of the Immersive Web, a rapidly developing space with immense potential for economic and social transformation.
I was joined by two distinguished panelists: Mohamed Taysir, CEO & Co-Founder at Singularity Finance and Wassim Jarkas, Executive Board at iBLOCKCHAIN.
Together, we delved into the complex dynamics of how governments can engage with the immersive web to create a regulatory framework that fosters innovation while addressing potential challenges such as data privacy, security, and digital sovereignty.
The conversation centered on the opportunities that the immersive web presents for governments, including the ability to create new digital economies, enhance public services through blockchain technology, and provide citizens with immersive, innovative experiences. However, we also discussed the challenges, particularly the regulatory and governance issues that governments will need to address to ensure that the immersive web remains a safe, inclusive, and equitable space for all users.
As the immersive web continues to grow, it is essential that governments and industry leaders collaborate to ensure that this next phase of the internet is shaped in a way that benefits society as a whole. The Arab Blockchain Week provided an excellent platform for these critical discussions, and Iām excited to continue exploring the intersections between government policy, blockchain, and the immersive web in shaping the future of digital engagement.
