Abu Dhabi & Sustainability

LinkedIn Post. January 20, 2025

“The past is a poor guide for the future,” said Parag Khanna, CEO of AlphaGeo, in his keynote at Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week last week.

It is about how we understand the world and what choices we make for the future. Things are changing faster than ever, and our mental images of who we are and how the world works have to catch up.

A place becomes resilient by comprehending its current circumstances and the risks it faces and then effectively adapting to them.

Since I started working in Abu Dhabi, I have received interesting reactions from friends and colleagues all over the world. There are clearly misconceptions about this place.

Sustainability conference in Abu Dhabi? YES. Definitely. (If you thought anything else, it is time for an update.)

UAE has understood its current state and possible risks. It is adapting quickly and, through its resilience, attracting both capital and talent.
