Gitex Global: The Future of Fashion and Technology in eCommerce Innovation
On October 18, 2023, I had the incredible opportunity to participate in a debate hub at Fintech Surge in Dubai, as part of the prestigious Gitex Global event. This panel discussion, focused on the dynamic intersection of fashion and technology, was moderated by the brilliant Lisa Chatterton from the Fashion Innovation Agency in London, who brought insightful direction to the conversation.
Our panel brought together pioneering minds in fashion innovation, digital creation, and XR technology, each offering a unique perspective on what lies ahead for the fashion industry. Together, we explored the future of fashion through the lens of emerging technologies, from virtual and augmented reality to digital fashion and multiverse fashion experiences.
The discussion centered on what’s possible now and what’s just around the corner, examining the question:
Where is fashion heading next?
Each panelist brought their insights on how fashion might evolve in a rapidly digitalizing world. Some shared bold, forward-looking ideas about the potential of digital fashion and immersive experiences, while others grounded the conversation by addressing the practical limitations and challenges that fashion brands face today. Caroline Bauer, Team Leader of Digital Creation at Hugo Boss, provided a thoughtful counterbalance, discussing the constraints within established fashion brands while recognizing the industry’s need to innovate.
Our inspiring panel lineup included:
Caroline Bauer, Team Leader Digital Creation, Hugo Boss
Charli Cohen, CEO & Founder, RSTLSS Multiverse Fashion
Josephine Miller, XR Art Director & Co-Founder, Oraar Studio
Nova Lorraine, MS Lorraine, Editor in Chief & Founder, Raine Magazine
Lisa Chatterton, Business Manager, Fashion Innovation Agency
This gathering at Gitex Global 2023 showcased the exciting possibilities emerging at the crossroads of fashion and technology. From pioneering digital wardrobes to envisioning the fashion metaverse, each perspective enriched the discussion and pointed to a future where creativity and technology work hand in hand to reshape how we think about fashion.
It was a privilege to be part of this conversation and to envision what’s next for fashion innovation alongside such talented and innovative professionals. I look forward to seeing how these ideas will inspire brands and designers to push the boundaries of what’s possible in the fashion industry.
