SXSW Austin Highlights: Innovation, Creativity, and Emerging Tech Trends
On March 29, 2023, I had the privilege of moderating and participating in two insightful panels at SXSW in Austin.
These sessions focused on the transformative power of community-driven innovation and the exciting potential of emerging technologies like AI and immersive tech to reshape business models across various industries.
The first panel, which I moderated, was titled “Creating World-Changing Ideas Through Communities.”
This conversation featured renowned digital artists Sophie Tea and Carmilla Sumantry, along with Kim Kaplan, who shared how community engagement has become essential to their creative and business processes. We discussed how communities influence not only the creation of digital art but also its promotion and distribution.
By fostering strong connections with their audiences, Sophie, Carmilla, and Kim have built thriving networks that amplify the reach and value of their work, demonstrating the powerful role that community-building plays in supporting creative and commercial success in today’s digital landscape.
The second panel, “What’s Next?,” attracted a packed audience and was centered on the future of AI, immersive technology, and other emerging trends.
This discussion highlighted which industries are leading in tech innovation and how these sectors are adapting to the rapid development of new technologies.
Together, we explored how business models might evolve as AI and immersive experiences continue to transform industry dynamics. Panelists shared insights into the ways in which these advancements are not only disrupting industries but are also driving scalable and sustainable change across sectors.
SXSW Austin 2023 underscored the critical role of both communities and emerging technologies in shaping the future. As AI and immersive experiences gain traction across industries, it’s clear that community-driven innovation and strategic tech integration are key to creating lasting, impactful change in the years to come.
